Anton Pommersheim, who in the season opener opted to move to Class A, finds himself on top of the BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series Turbo Cup points table after 2026’s action-packed second round at Zwartkops Raceway this past weekend (6-7 March)
Class A grew to an eight-car field by Friday afternoon, with Bilal Ahmed being a late addition to the weekend’s entry list, while Lenard Archer opted to fit slick tyres to his BMW E90 335i. Earlier in the day, Renier Smith, the other Class B entrant, moved to the NA Cup in a different car he is further developing.
Pommersheim opened his account on Saturday morning by securing the Dunlop Pole Position, with Leon Loubser in second place. Row 2 saw Sav Gualtieri heading up Kashen Naicker, with Archer completing the Class A top five. In Class C, it was Ethan Coetzee who started ahead of Nick Naidoo, with Bennie Luyt in third place. Nicky Dicks and Cameron Christian also featured in the top five, while the class and Turbo Cup points leader after Round 1, Oz Biagioni, found himself stuck in a lowly 10th place. Michael Grobler headed up Eugene Gouws in Class D, with Alan Hilligenn and Johan Miller also both ahead of Craig Herbst, the points leader.

Gualtieri quickly saw off Loubser to slot into second place behind Pommersheim, who went on to take a comfortable win in Class A. Archer completed the podium, with Singh being the final Class A finisher. Naicker and Ahmed both failed to make the start, while Loubser and Neill retired due to mechanical issues. Coetzee took a relatively easy win in Class C, while Luyt made his way into second place following issues for Naidoo. Christian completed the podium, albeit with relative ease, after contact between two further challengers, Anand Naidu and Wessel Mostert. Naidu did take fourth place, though, with Salvi Gualtieri in fifth. Grobler, who held the Class D lead for most of the race, spun off on the final lap, which saw Hilligenn, Gouws, Herbst, Sayen Moodley and Miller all making their way through.
Off the inverted grid for the second race, Pommersheim picked off Singh, Archer, and eventually, Sav Gualtieri, to take the lead and another dominant win, his third in a row. Gualtieri took the runner-up spot, while Neill savaged his day with a third-place finish. Archer and Singh completed the top five. In Class C, Luyt had his hands full with a persistent Naidu, but managed to hold him off and pick up his first win of the year. Coetzee was the first Class C driver to cross the line, but received a 30-second penalty for a jump start, which moved him out of the top five. Dicks completed the podium after holding off Christian and Salvi Gualtieri. Herbst is building a reputation for being a reverse-grid king and picked up the Class D win. Grobler and Gouws completed the podium, while Moodley had off Miller for fourth place.

Pommersheim’s 20 points saw him take Class A in the ZF-Aftermarket Overall Results from Gualtieri and Archer, with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Luyt’s fine day out saw him accumulate 18 points to take the Class C win, while also taking the ITOO Driver of the Day award. Coetzee and Naidu tied on 13 points, but Coetzee’s superior aggregate time saw him take second place. Herbst took Class D with 16 points, ahead of 14-point Gouws, and 13-point Hilligenn.
For Pommershiem, it was a grand slam of points, with those for the pole position and two fastest laps added. This puts him at the top of Class A with 43 points. Despite not scoring any points in Round 2, Naicker’s 19 still sees him in second place, while Singh is third with 18. Class B remains unchanged with Smith, Archer, and Carlo Garbini on 19, 12, and 5, respectively. Naidu has moved to the top of Class C with his 31 points, with Luyt second on 28, and Biagioni now third with 24. Herbst’s 32 points see him 10 ahead of Hilligenn and Miller in Class D.

Herbst is now also second on the Turbo Cup points table, 11 points behind Pommersheim. Naidu, Luyt, and Biagioni make it a strong Class C presence in the top five.
With two rounds completed, the BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series will head into a two-month break before Round 3 will see them make their first of two visits to Red Star Raceway this season, on 15-16 May.
